Automatic Billing
Once a patient is processed, a record of the patient visit is kept in the patient's database together with the nature of the visit. The cost of the visit can be readily determined and billed to the payer automatically over the internet.
HIMS supports a suite of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) functionalities. For instance, HIMS has an implementation of the ANSI ASC X12N 837 Health Care Claims (837) transaction for institutional claims and/or encounters. This data interchange protocol is in compliance with the data standards set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1966 (HIPAA) and its associated rules.
HIMS HIPAA 837 implementation is certified by State of California Alcohol and Drug Programs, and is currently in use by both direct service providers and county of California to conduct electronic billing to the State of California.
